FWA Tribute Evening with Wayne Rooney

At Boadicea the Victorious we value leadership as among the qualities which inspire our brand, and so it was a pleasure for our CEO David Crisp to meet England football captain Wayne Rooney when we sponsored the annual Football Writers’ Association Tribute evening. Held each year in the magnificently sumptuous surroundings of the five-star Savoy Hotel in London, the dinner honours one of the greats of the World game.

The timing was perfect as Rooney had just surpassed Sir Bobby Charlton’s record to become Manchester United’s all-time top goalscorer – having already also established himself as England’s most prolific goal scorer.

Guests heard former England manager Roy Hodgson speak in glowing terms of the leadership and commitment which Wayne had given to the national team throughout his tenure, while Scotland captain Darren Fletcher talked of the way Rooney inspired young players growing up at Old Trafford.

We were delighted to present Wayne and his beautiful wife Coleen with a bottle of Rose Sapphire, the latest addition to our exclusive range, as well as providing table gifts for all those present at the dinner. Other guests included current England football manager Gareth Southgate, as well as former Manchester United manager David Moyes.
