As a brand who generally stands as gender neutral believing in a goal of equality between the sexes, we are also named after the iconic Queen Boadicea, so paying homage to the power of the female seems natural.

It is said that Mothers Day first started in the early 1900s after the daughter of Ann Reeves Jarvis created the idea of having a day to celebrate her late mothers life and honor the sacrifices mothers make for their children. However there are many other roots which this day could have stemmed from, including the ancient Greeks and the Romans. Whatever the heritage, Mothering Sunday has become somewhat commercialized and many countries across the world celebrate it, albeit on different dates. In the UK, the holiday tends to fall in March and this is your gentle reminder that this year it’s the 19th March.

Origins for International Women’s Day date back to 1909 however, IWD became a mainstream global holiday in 1977 when it was officiated by the UN. A global day to celebrate the social economic, cultural and political achievements and the impact these have on the world. The day acts as a form of female empowerment and a testament to what women have achieved even when being surprised and gives hope to what more can be achieved.
